The Waltzing Mechanics create documentary performances crafted from stories of real people.
Every one of our performances begins with a passionate idea. A documentary performance maker may be an actor, a playwright, a director, a community organizer, a teacher, or just someone who sees an injustice in the world that needs explication. These makers are equal parts researcher and educator, dedicated to finding truth in lived experiences and then crafting how that unacknowledged story can be shared with broader audiences through the practice of empathy and performance. Many of these projects take years to bear fruit. We nurture them along the way and share them with audiences who want to make a difference.
